1 - What about competition amongst a number of attorneys purchasing this informational data?

Considering the vast majority of Municipal Court individuals who arrive in Court without an attorney-compared to the attorneys present, the market is extremely wide open and available to handle competition. The majority of individuals receiving tickets are not unaware of their right to access an attorney or the benefits of an attorney's services. Many attorneys are currently engaging in the practice of obtaining leads although in a more cumbersome and highly expensive fashion. But they are already competing for these prospective clients. CourtList Marketing offers the opportunity to obtain these leads and for attorneys to target their advertisements in a more efficient and extremely less expensive fashion than most attorneys currently employing. Keep in mind the majority of our clients will be ordering different types of lists, i.e. courts requested will not be the same nor will be the size of the order.

2 - What is the percentage of return (i.e. am I going to get clients)?

CourtList Marketing cannot offer any type of guarantees, warranties or representations that their list will definitely produce clients. The success of any marketing list depends upon many factors totally outside of the control of the producer of the list including but not limited to:

  • A professionally well drafted advertisement
  • The ability to handle and receive incoming calls
  • The fees for legal services being offered.
  • The promptness in sending advertisements out in the mail as the information produced is time sensitive.

Most success comes from higher volumes of advertisements and the ability to successfully market oneself.

3 - What if the informational data produced are of individuals having insignificant or minor violations?

Of course there will be occasions where the individual solicited may not require the need of an attorney. However, that prospective client may retain your promotional materials and may require legal services of a different nature in the future. That individual may have another immediate legal need such as personal injury claim, Will, real estate settlement, etc. And, that client may call upon you for services in that regard. Considering the price of the name and address produced it is certainly a wise investment. It will definitely add to your mailing list.

4 -What about ethical considerations?

Most State Rules of Ethics (including New Jersey) do permit targeted advertisements. CourtList Marketing cannot offer any legal advice nor make any warranties, representations or statements concerning the ethical practices engaged by attorneys when performing targeted advertisements. It is recommended however that each advertisement conform to State Rules of Ethics, with the attorney filing any requisite Certificates of Compliance with their State Board of Ethics as to the content of his/her advertisement.

5 - Why am I getting returned mail?

CourtList Marketing obtains its information data directly from the government and/or court records. The accuracy of this data depends upon many factors including, but not limited to, the manner in which the information is collected, recorded and transmitted by the involved officers, court clerks, administrative clerks, etc. Some returns have forwarding addresses and may still be productive. On some occasions, the Post Office may hold many returns and deliver them back to the sender in a single delivery, giving the appearance of high volume of returns. CourtList Marketing sets its pricing after having taken all factors into consideration, including returns.

6 - When should I start seeing new clients?

Typically, calls should start to arrive within a few days from the first mailing, although most customers report new business increasing after a few weeks. Many factors control this issue: many people wait until a court date gets closer before contacting an attorney; the wording of the ad; the ability to receive calls at all hours, including nights and weekends; the volume of mailers sent. All these factors are outside the control of CourtList Marketing. Plan carefully to maximize your retention.
